McAfee may not be the all hyped up ant-virus that it once represented. Many user’s are stuck trying to un-install this program with what seems like no luck at all. Not only is this Antivirus not up to par for protection, it can also slow down what use to be your super fast PC. So now the real question is “how do I delete McaFee antivirus?

The simplest way to remove McaFee anti-virus is to use the add/remove console. This can easily be done by Clicking on your start button, Start, finding your way to the control panel, and finallyDouble-click on Add or Remove Programs. Now you must Find the Network Associates or the McaFee product listing. Now start the removal process which is quite simply done by following the on- screen directions.

How To Get Rid Of Norton Antivirus And Other Antivirus Products

Posted on 14th October 2010 in Antivirus

Norton Antivirus and other seemingly poorly working antivirus solutions generally come up in conversations regarding what programs just generally aren’t that great. So it is not surprising that lots of people wonder how to uninstall Norton Antivirus and other not-so-great antivirus products like McAfee. What can be even more annoying is how they get on your computer in the first place. Internet services love to give you a CD that tells you it is installing software to “install the internet services” on the computer, however, it just ends up being programs that mess up your computer and Norton antivirus.

What is even crazier is Norton’s failure to protect itself from viruses and other attacks. Viruses can easily disable Norton and other similar antivirus programs. With each update and version to Norton, it does become a little better. But with that also comes instability and functionality with other programs. Norton also slows down the boot up process of Windows. All these things make people change their mind about Norton because at this point, it is just easier to uninstall and buy a different antivirus program than deal with all the hiccups.

Sometimes you can uninstall Norton Antivirus easily and other times you can’t. The easiest way and normally the way it works is to uninstall the program via Add/Remove Programs.

1)Go to your Control Panel by click on Start to open up the Start Menu
2)Click on Add/Remove Programs
3)Look for Norton Antivirus or Symantec, click on it, and then click on the Remove button that is on the bottom right.

That should start the uninstallation process and then normally you will be asked to restart your computer. It is up to you whether you want to reboot now or later.

Now generally this method works for basic removal of any antivirus programs. Unfortunately, lots of people complain about Norton still being left on the computer after they have uninstalled it. So, for those of you who run into this problem, try the steps below to solve it.

Symantec has a tool that gets rid of all Norton programs installed on the computer. This program can be found here:
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Save it to a location you won’t forget on your computer and close any Norton or other Symantec programs you have up. Open the Norton Removal Tool (If you have Windows 7 or Vista, you need to right-click this program and run as administrator), and let it do its thing.

After it’s done removing all the programs, you’ll need to restart your computer. After this, do a search for Norton and Symantec files. Sometimes these programs leave behind files in Users folder or the Common Files folder. That’s it!

How To Get Rid of IE7 And Keep It From Reinstalling

Posted on 14th October 2010 in Internet Explorer

In between the time it took Microsoft to release Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) after Internet Explorer 6, different browsers, who were undoubtedly better, started to appear. For those of you who are still using Windows XP, you may have noticed IE7 automatically installs itself via Window’s Updates. Some people may not care their IE6 was replaced as they do not use it. For others, finding out Windows Update decided to automatically download and install IE7, it might be a pain.

Internet Explorer 7 seems to have some botched up security protocols while IE6 has none. For some people, they use Internet Explorer 6 for this reason alone. Internet Explorer 7 also seems to still have problems displaying certain websites (which did not seem to disappear with IE8, but that is another story). Other times, installing IE7 via the Automatic Update feature in Windows resulted in a botched installation that could sometimes only be fixed with third party software.

Luckily, for whatever reason you want IE7 uninstalled, it is actually relatively easy to. However, before you go and uninstall IE7, you will need to prevent the Automatic Updates feature in Windows from trying to automatically download and install Internet Explorer 7 again. There are a couple of ways you can do this:

1) Download the toolkit that disables Windows Update from automatically installing IE7, which can be found here: DOWNLOAD
2) Go to your Control Panel (by going to your Start Menu), select Security Center, then select Automatic Updates and tick the box that says “Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them”. Or if you like, disable Automatic Updates (wouldn’t advise for novice computer users).
3) Open up Internet Explorer and type in windowsupdate.microsoft.com OR go to Tools option at the top, click, and select Windows Update on the drop-down menu. Once you do this, click Custom, and then uncheck the box that says “Windows Internet Explorer 7.0″ and then click on the box that says “Do not show this update again”

Phew. Since we got that out of the way, we can uninstall Internet Explorer 7. The following steps will help you do this:

1) Make sure you completely close out IE7
2) Go to your Start Menu and click Control Panel. When that appears, select Add/Remove Programs
3) Look for Internet Explorer 7 on the list. Select it, and then click the Remove button on the bottom right.

That’s it. Windows will revert back to the browser previously used, which should be Internet Explorer 6.
